Senior Adoptions
Agatha
was an 8 year old Chihuahua found as
a stray and brought to the MSPCA by
a concerned citizen. Agatha had a harsh
cough from being out in the streets
and a survivable case of mammary cancer
if treated. Agatha had a wonderful personality
and still a very strong love of life.
There were a lot of good years left
in Agatha. But how could 8 year old
Agatha compete with a bouncy 5 month
old puppy at a pet adoption center.
There would be medical bills. Would
a new owner agree to pay for them? Could
the animal shelter afford to pay for
them? Would Agatha be one of the lucky
ones?
The
MSPCA "Chaucer and Zuzu" Senior
Pet Adoption Fund provides
financial support to homeless dogs and
cats age 6 and older who are in the
care of the MSPCA Boston Animal Care
and Adoption Center. The program provides
funding of medical procedures that will
make the senior pet more adoptable and/or
allow the pet to be available for adoption
in the first place. It provides free
training and behavioral services to
those pets once adopted. The program
also helps promote the virtues of senior
pet adoption through public awareness
programs. "Chaucer & Zuzu",
the namesakes of this fund, are two
senior pets who never had to worry about
a home and good medical care. Agatha
was treated and adopted into a new home
and was great friends with both Chaucer
and Zuzu for 6 years. Agatha was one
of the lucky ones. With your help, this
fund will allow many other older dogs
and cats in the care of the MSPCA Boston
Animal Care and Adoption Center to be
as lucky as Agatha.
