Happy-Dog House : About Happy-Dog House

A Cageless Dog Care Facility, 398 Ashland St, Abington

[About Happy-Dog House] [Directions to Happy Dog House] [Services & Prices]

What we do:

Homestyle Day & Over Nite Care consists of dogs staying in Happy-Dog House. Happy-Dog House is a licensed for boarding, one floor house that is especially equipped for dogs. It has non-absorbent floors & wall coverings to ensure effective sanitation for the safety of your pet. This however, is the only way in which Happy-Dog House resembles a dog boarding facility. Our facility is designed to make your dog think he is staying at someone's house; thereby greatly reducing his `away from home' stress. There is a doggie living room with vinyl couches & faux fireplace, a doggie kitchen, playroom and resting rooms. Other amenities include: central air conditioning, satellite TV, a deck for lounging and a 90x90, 6 foot high, fenced yard with pools, sandboxes and other amusements. Your dog's health, behavior, eating habits and emotional needs are monitored & tended to throughout the day by animal care givers. Dogs sleep freely or in crates depending on their current lifestyle and displayed behavior. During sleeping hours dogs are checked on with a baby monitor by staff living on the property. The house also has a smoke detector hard wired to the fire department.

In-home Board is a full home environment for special needs dogs or the truly spoiled. The dog stays in the house adjacent to Happy-Dog House with the animal care supervisor. In-home Boarders may interact part or all of the day with the other dogs if you wish. Special needs dogs are walked and played with by an animal caregiver for exercise..

Your Responsibilities:

Behavior...Generally, Dogs do require an evaluation, typically by coming in for a daycare trial, before acceptance into the Cageless Boarding Program. Happy Dog Training Clients, referrals from our Network who live a distance away or out of state may be able to do a phone evaluation, but this is on a case by case basis only. Any dog, evaluated in person or otherwise who causes any type of problem which would make it either unsafe or unpleasant for the dogs as a group may have to finish their stay at the inhome board at an additional cost of $10 per day to be paid upon pick up.

Health (fax # for vet 781-857-2299) Vaccine info must be received before an evaluation or before reservation will be booked.

Dogs must be current on the following vaccines: Distemper (1or 3 yr) Rabies (1 or 3 yr) and Bordetella (aka Kennel cough) within the last 6 months (we have this available for $15). Dogs under 18 months require a negative fecal exam result (poop) within the last month. Dogs over 18 months require a negative fecal result within the last year. Dogs of any age who attend day care at another facility on a regular basis must have a negative fecal result within the last month. Dogs over 6 months of age must be spayed or neutered. All dogs must be on the flea/tick prevention treatment Frontline or Advantix. (we have frontline available for $15). Dogs on some other type of flea prevention would require a thorough Tick Exam for $10. Flea collars are not allowed. If your dog is on medication, we will administer it free of charge; unless it is injectable.

In order that we may care for everyone’s dog appropriately, please notify us immediately if your dog develops any health problems subsequent to booking your reservation-no matter how minor you may think they are. Failure to do this may cause your dog to be turned away at check-in.

What to Bring:

Daycare Dogs... just bring the dog.

Boarding Guests bring enough food for days visiting plus 2 extra servings. If you have a very active dog, you may want to increase his serving size slightly; as he will be burning off a lot of calories during his stay. Please put food in a ziplock bag (s On the bag write his name brand of food how much he eats and how many times a day. Please do not bring food cannisters and do not bring your dog's entire bag of food. Note it is even better if you prepackage each meal individually. If possible bring your dog's crate. Do Not Bring bedding, bowls toys or bones (unless he is staying in-home in which case you may bring anything you’d like)

Payment:

DayCare Guests: Pay by arrangement.

Boarding Guests: Must pay in full upon their dog's arrival and then would be billed for additional fees requested such as `extra days stayed'; upon pick up of their dog. Please note our rates are per calendar day (not per nite like a hotel) ; as your dog is cared for 24 hours a day. (Some exceptions apply ). In order that we may spend more time with everyone's dogs we prefer payment be in cash. If you do need to pay by check it should be made payable to `Lisa Aprea'. When Booking for the Holidays, Long Weekends and School Vacation you will need to to `reserve' your dogs stay by making a non refundable deposit. Although that deposit can be placed on a Visa/MC; final payment including the deposit amount is by cash or check.
